Our STABLE 2.1 RACE RAST sets new standards again in all flight areas of a hybrid paraglider. Above all, the good start-up and sliding properties when flying quickly or slowly reveals the entire level of performance. It can be flown very sporty, but he also likes very slow cruises - always with a high security reserve.
The good steering properties and high maneuverability were also very important to us. This can also be used to boost weaker and very tight thermals.
Briefly about the history of development:
RAST® paragliders from Swing always fascinated me during my man-carrying time.
Herry Hoffner, an RC paraglider pioneer from the very beginning, began gaining the first experience with RC paragliders in self-construction a few years ago. His construction, the "Olympic", made us available with his findings. This umbrella had no RAST® valves, but served as the foundation of our development of the STABLE. In the first step, however, it was necessary to get in touch with the company Swing in order to be able to integrate the RAST® system they patented exclusively into our RC sports gliders.
With the contractual approval of the use of RAST® and the "Olympic" as the basis, we started our exciting further development of Hybrid-RAST® RC sports paragliders with high extension and small number of single skin cells.
The aim was to develop a hybrid glider that is always good-natured and easy to fly when starting and in a variety of flight phases, which is already "marching" in the normal flight phase and does not collapse very strongly when accelerating . In the thermal position, too, it should have good and stable handling in the area of the slightest sinking. In any case, we also wanted to keep the number of open, i.e. single-skin cells, as low as possible to get maximum sliding power.
In order to meet these requirements, it was necessary to carry out countless iterations of flow simulations of the cap. The result is a profile strac with 4 to 6 different profiles in the direction of a range depending on the glider.
A perfectly tense profile nose, which also simplifies starting, we achieve through the use of Nitinol, a shaped nickel titan alloy with a memory effect. This was a big challenge because we have very thin profiles with tight nasal radii. The classic bag for nylon sticks cannot be taken over one to one for this.
The latest generation of Edelrid Magix Pro Dry is used as cords for our gliders.
The heart of the RAST® gliders, the RAST® valve, brings a lot of advantages in flight, but represents a lot of effort during the development phase and in prototype construction. A larger number of prototypes in comparison to conventional shields is needed. This is because the overall construction and the voltage distribution are mainly related to the RAST® valve. A lot can be changed on a conventional prototype without RAST®. If something is wrong with the RAST®, it cannot be intervened because it is installed inside the cell and a completely new prototype must be built.
Ultimately, only the ellipes shape remained from the Olympic. We calculated new profiles and created a modern profile strak in flow simulation, integrated rest valves, adapted the RAST to have a better effect. Above all, we changed the wing tension. The sticks were all constructed on the modern Nitinol system, a nickel titan alloy with form memory. The interior was constructed on lightweight construction. In many test series, we flew the optimal linen lengths and angle of attack of the different sections.
Well, dear customers, we have reached the destination with the Stable Race and can offer it to our customers.

Aerodynamics, newly developed profile trac |
We took the slightly longer development path and simulated the canopy in flow simulation. The result was a new Profilstrak. The canopy changes the profile 4-6 times (depending on the paraglider type) per side in the direction of the span - not only in the percentage thickness, but also in camber and camber reserve. The result was 4-6 new profiles per cap side in the profile strak. With this simulation method, we were able to cover a larger speed range. When gliding in the middle and higher speed range as well as in slow thermal cranking, the canopy always remains good-natured and easy to fly. |
RAST® - Maximum control in every situation - that's RAST® |
A RAST® valve is used in every cell of our RC paragliders. With RAST®, the inside of the canopy is divided into different (printing) sections perpendicular to the direction of flight by one or more panels, some with valves. This can influence the air currents in the cap. Our RAST® RC sports paragliders have the following properties: • Easy startup behavior • High canopy stability • Counteracts large-scale rattles • No complete emptying of the cap in the event of malfunctions, thus less loss of altitude and faster reopening • More power in moving air • More control in thermals |
Nitinol Sticks |
Nitinol rods in the nose – bent rods are a thing of the past. Nitinol stands for nickel-titanium alloy and is a high-strength shape-memory alloy. The 0.6mm thin nitinol wire is absolutely kink-resistant, as well as length and shape stable. Thanks to the memory effect, the wire ensures a perfectly stretched profile nose, which also makes launching easier, but packing the paraglider is also easier. In terms of weight, paragliders with Nitinol rods are even lighter than paragliders with Nylon rods. |
Pro Dry Aramid Lines |
We use the new Edelrid lines of the latest generation Magix Pro Dry as line material. The special coating reduces the line's moisture absorption by -60% and also increases UV resistance and dirt resistance. Due to their magenta and orange coloring, the lines are clearly visible and easy to sort. The high rigidity of the line material leads to a reduction in knot formation during use. |
